SG GROUP CUTTING BACK APPEARANCE SCHEDULE
LANDON BEENE: "THIS IS THE FUTURE OF OUR GENRE OF MUSIC"
The Beene Family announced, this week,.. a plan to reorganize their tour schedule to include a significant cutback. The revised tour schedule is effective July 1st,.. and will limit the family to a maximum of 100 concert dates a year.  That's about 75 fewer appearances, per year.. than the group normally works.

Landon Beene says: "Our focus for the future is to continue to maximize the growth of our
music, the focus of our ministry and protect the health of our family life. The reorganization of our tour schedule has been in the planning stages for over a year, and we hope it will promote the longevity of the Beene Family well into tomorrow. This is the future of our genre of music."

BLIND, WHEELCHAIR-BOUND STUDENT TO APPEAR AT NQC
Patrick Henry Hughes will appear Thursday, September 11th.. during the 2008 National Quartet Convention. According to an NQC press release.. Hughes is a remarkable young man who was born without eyes and without the ability to fully straighten his arms and legs, making him unable to walk. Additionally, steel rods were surgically attached to Hughes’ spine to correct scoliosis. Despite unfathomable circumstances, he overcame many physical adversities and has excelled as a pianist, vocalist, trumpet player and student. Hughes first began playing piano at just nine months of age, and currently participates in the University of Louisville School of Music marching and pep bands.

NQC Vice President, Clarke Beasley said: “We are thrilled to have this extremely gifted young man as a part of the 2008 NQC. His life and the devotion of his family have literally inspired our entire nation,.. and we believe his performance and testimony at NQC will be talked about for years to come.”

Patrick has been featured in People Magazine, Sports Illustrated and other publications. He has been profiled on ABC World News and recently the Hughes family was the subject of an Extreme Make Over, Home Edition program on ABC television.

NQC is set to take place September 8 through 13 at the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center in Louisville, KY.
