BUS FIRE BOMBING,.. HATE CRIME?
GROUP OWNER COMMENTS Johnathan Bond told our reporter that Nashville Police are
investigating last weeks fire bombing of Young Harmony's tour bus as a
possible "hate crime" against gospel music. However,.. Bond says: "I
personally think it was a crime of convenience, but who knows." Investigators said a plastic jug full of an explosive liquid was
found in a luggage compartment under the bus. A police bomb squad unit
determined that a flammable agent was the cause of the fire,.. and the
explosive device was indeed a homemade
firebomb. No persons were injured during the incident. Group members called 911 when they
noticed the bus filling with smoke. Young Harmony's manager, Rick
Hendrix said:."They
had just gotten out of the revival at Faith Temple in Nashville when the
firebomb was placed in the bus."
We asked Johnathan if he had any idea why this happened ..or who might be responsible. He joked: "Maybe our music was too loud!" and then added: "No actually, I don't think it was personal." Bond went on to say the group's coach is still operable.. but the stench is almost unbearable. The bus sustained about $32,000 in damages.
