GERALD CRABB WEATHERS THE STORM
At least eleven people were injured when severe storms and a tornado swept through Lowndes County, Mississippi late last week. News reports say that twenty five homes and one business were destroyed,.. while at least five businesses and eighty one homes sustained damage in the storm.

At least eleven people were injured when severe storms and a tornado swept through Lowndes County, Mississippi late last week. News reports say that twenty five homes and one business were destroyed,.. while at least five businesses and eighty one homes sustained damage in the storm.
Southern Gospel singer, songwriter and evangelist, Gerald Crabb was in Caledonia (MS) when the tornado hit. Gerald says he was driving to a relative's home when the weather started to deteriorate. Crabb offers this account: "The sky was filled with black clouds. Huge bolts of lighting were coming down off in the distance. By the time I reached the house it looked like we were in for some very bad weather. As I opened the door,.. I looked up about fifty yards from the house above a little wooded area. I saw boards, and
debris swirling around in the air. It was twisting and breaking the tops out of those pine trees. I was scared! We all ran into the bedroom closet."
The worst of the storm was over in just a few minutes,.. and even though the house they were in was spared,.. Gerald says: "Across the street half of one of the houses was gone. Down the street looked like a war zone. Several houses were destroyed."
The elementary, middle and high schools, all on the same campus in Caledonia, felt the brunt of the storm. The football field was destroyed, along with an old gym and the vo-tech building. Officials report that several cars in the parking lot were destroyed and a bus was thrown on top of a building. One student suffered minor injuries.
Gerald adds: "We will forever be grateful to our God for His hand of protection. There was much damage to the Caledonia area but no one was seriously harmed. To God Be The Glory!"
